Worldwide Premiere of my new song "Melanin Queen"

I am beyond thrilled to announce the worldwide release of my brand new original song “Melanin Queen” out now! This song was written by me and produced by Alberto Merelo and The Kwakes. When I was growing up for many years of my life I didn’t feel truly confident in my skin and body. I felt like a slave to it, and almost everything in society shouted to me that if I just looked “different” than I did I would be more desirable, I would have more opportunities and I would be treated “better”. And so I found myself obsessing over women and girls who looked more racially ambiguous and European, and I would try to align myself with “whiteness” so that I could feel more “confident” and hopefully get some of the “benefits” that these women in society had. It seemed that I always had to be smarter, work harder, be “better”, be more articulate and be extra sweet in order to avoid the stereotypes that followed women and girls who looked like me. It was all such a heavy burden to carry.

As I have been growing in my relationship with God and experiencing deep internal and external healing, I have come to understand that there is ONLY 1 Truth about me and my life- what God says and believes about me. I was created from the overflow of love in God’s Heart, and to be filled, sustained and satisfied by that LOVE all the days of my life and even unto eternity.

I do not exist just so that I can be desired by men or to be liked by people. I do not exist to live under the dysfunctional systems of this world. I can live from the freedom, overflow and passions in my heart and whatever manifests from that is fine, but it is not my identity. I have never been rejected, and I can never be rejected because I was accepted by God long before anyone could ever have an opinion about me! On the days when those lies try to sneak back in, I lean into God and allow His abundant grace to bring my heart back to rest and protect my mind.
