Why I am no longer a fan of the self-help industry.
I find it very difficult at times to call myself a motivational or inspirational speaker because I DO NOT believe in using fear, discontentment, guilt or proving someone wrong in order to “bring out the best in people”. I DO NOT believe in teaching people that they have to find a purpose or calling in order to have meaning in this world. I DO NOT believe that people have to invest a ton of money or even have a lot of money to receive healing or transformation. Although I am very ambitious, determined and motivated I DO NOT believe in speaking messages that leave people feeling anxious and like they are not good enough. And that they now need to work extremely hard and do things in order to feel worthy. I do NOT believe in worshipping people, comparisons or putting someone on a pedestal.
This is why I am coining the phrase “Gracespirational Speaker”. I believe in calling out the gold that is already in people and helping them to learn how to be satisfied and live in joy no matter what they face in this world. When your mind and heart are free, you can never be chained again. Even if they are “poor” according to societal standards, they can still feel like a million dollars within. I want to help them heal BECAUSE they ARE already worthy, not so they can feel worthy. I want to empower them to live from the passion in their hearts and the overflow and NOT from fear, pain or inadequacy. I don’t want to teach people to build a “perfect” caged life for themselves where they only find happiness IF they reach this goal or get that or have someone. Many people don’t even know who they are outside of pain, fear, rejection or living from the opinion of others! I am thankful for the shift and for my platform. Things are changing and I’m seeing people every day receive healing, freedom, joy and the confidence to pursue their dreams without obsessing over results or the outcome! People are not robots or cars that need to be fixed; they are treasures that are supposed to be loved, encouraged and uplifted. What good is it to change the behavior if the heart and mind are still sick? #GraceMade not #SelfMade
