Myth VS. Truth: Part 1 "God Helps those who help themselves."

MYTH: “God helps those who help themselves!”

TRUTH: God helped me when I had nothing to give or anything to call my own. When I felt I was sinking and all hope was lost. I have never pulled myself up by my own bootstraps. God lifts me up and places me on firm ground. While people may wonder why you can’t “just get over it” and “get it together”, God understands the intricacies of your heart and knows exactly what you need to be healed. God will never kick you down or make you feel inferior. We were never meant to save ourselves. This world can be very tiring sometimes and our strength can run out; we need Someone Who doesn’t get tired and Who will bring us back to our center. I have never met a person who said they wished they didn’t depend on God so much; however I have met countless people who wished they had trusted God sooner. They wish they had known their whole lives that God was this good.

“God is near to the brokenhearted and there to rescue and save ALL who are crushed in spirit, discouraged and have given up hope.” (Psalm 34:18) “The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, our stronghold and HELPER in times of trouble and suffering.” (Psalm 9:9) “My HELP comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:2) “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present HELP in times of trouble and distress.” (Psalm 46:1)
